Mr Price has a thing for collaborating with our favourite fashion industry insiders and they do it well – and their latest collab is definitely worth noting! Meet Funeka of the Quirky Stylista. She’s a fashion blogger, stylist, ’70s lover and the latest to collaborate on the Mr P Project limited-edition range, just in case you missed the buzz on Twitter.

Active tops, embellishments and stand-out (quirky) pieces with plenty of attitude is what this range is about – and the strong DIY feel makes it very current.

Funeka says:

I love to work with movers and shakers. Mr P is innovative and has a finger on the fashion pulse. For me, it is all about unique expression and Mr P does that.

Like what you see? Shop it online here or pop in to stores because, yes, the range is on selected store rails!

And we find out more…

What do you love the most about DIY?
Funeka: DIY gives me the freedom to be more creative. A lot of the time people’s creativity is stifled because they cannot show expression through their clothing. DIY allows you to put your own spin on what you wear.

What is this season’s ultimate must-have?
Denim. This winter’s key shapes would have to be the ’70s-inspired high-waisted and boyfriend jeans. Both shapes are so versatile and easily paired with the season’s other key items.

Your style has a strong ’60s/’70s influence to it. What inspires you most about the era?
The style icons from that era. I love to take that ’70s influence and incorporate it in my own style.

You seem to live and breathe fashion through styling, blogging and modelling. How do you balance all three?
I can’t imagine doing anything else. Fashion is my life and I think you make time for the things you love.

Watch the video here, get the T-shirt and then tell us what you love about the range by commenting below – one lucky reader could win a R500 voucher to shop Funeka’s range!

This competition is now closed! Congratulations to our lucky winner and Quirky Stylista fan: Khwaza Tshisela! We’ll be in touch shortly!

I like Funeka’s range like I love her, she’s all about being out of the ordinary which is what makes me love the range. I also don’t like looking like everyone else so her range will sure contribute to my DCWPS (Don’t Care What People Say) style.

That Chic Happens sweater is a must-have. Love the range in its entirety – but that sweater says it all. This quirky gal is super talented and its about time she had her own Project Range with Mr P.

Funeka’s style is FAB! It’s so quirky and eclectic! She takes fashion risks that most people wouldn’t dare of, and pulls them off effortlessly! Will definitely be rocking her Stylista Tee!

I am yet to meet anyone more consistent with her style. I actually remember Funeka from her student days back in Grahamstown and I can safely say she was one of the pioneers when it came to bringing quirk and vintage to the fashion forefront. I adore her. She’s a true inspiration.

Her range is much like her, true to her style and consistent. Stand outs for me are the ‘Stylista’ plain white tee, the sports luxe ‘Chic Happens’ sweater and those amazing high waisted mom/boyfriend jeans with the distressed detail. I would pair these with my leopard print pair of creepers.

Amazing work. Kudos to her and Mr Price. Affordable fashion makes my life.

I love the jewels and simple graphic tees! AND I am obsessed with that long sleeve Free Spirit active top! As you said the range is very ‘quirky’ and that’s what Funeka is all about!

Being a fashion student you are always surrounded by people who think they know it all about fashion.I always take my inspiration from people with a style sense that will shock you out of your comfort zone.I love Funeka’s Mr P range because it’s chic but affordable and she is a local style icon.I have many tips on what to wear to school now because I have been following her style for a while.I practically used to live in jeans…but now I’m not scared to try new things!!
