The old Woodstock Industrial centre has been renovated and is now the Woodstock Exchange and the place to work from. Know this: you don’t get cooler. It’s a creative hub where like-minded people can set up shop, office or business. And it’s not all work, there is plenty of play too. Being in the business of connecting people and creating communities around fashion and lifestyle brands, what better place for Jenna McArthur PR to operate from?
It’s day three in our new space and downstairs is the bigger and better Superette (proving to be dangerous to the pockets), Pichulik, Chapel, Rosetta Roastery, Lady Bonin’s Tea Emporium, The Field Office, Honest Chocolate, Pedersen + Lennard, the HQ of Two Oceans Vibe… the list goes on. It’s a space filled with designers and artists, beautiful food and beautiful things – there is no shortage of creativity. It’s a craft culture and working in its midst is so inspiring – I love that trendy doesn’t stop at the spaces, its also the people cruising the building. (Even their fringes are cool.)

My desk space is simple but pretty with something old and something new. The new is mostly from Typo. Love the moustache and button drawing pins? From Typo. R49 for a pack of 12. The ceramic parrot and yellow bunny are from Mr Price. In the corner you’ll see a card with a picture of Twiggy – that was my departing gift from the ELLE belles. Now here’s the part I love. The picture is titled ‘Flight of Fancy Dress’. Cecil Beaton photographed Twiggy in 1972 at his house as a butterfly person because he saw her as a cosmic Ariel, a weightless dream child. The team wished me ‘butterfly wings’ on my solo flight!
My neighbours: to my right sits curator Kim Stern, down the way is photographer Cindy Taylor and creative Marco Simal. Now write this down: Marco makes these! The Cork Metro Tile is heaven for pinning – as seen behind my desk. If you like what you see, order from Marco by mailing him at: email@example.com

Proteas from Adderley Street flower market, R30 a bunch

3 breakfasts at Superette. Superette opens at 7am, no messing about here. My order this week has been the goats’ cheese and courgette omelette. Delicious, I tell you.
7 coffee calls to Rosetta Roastery downstairs. Order a flat white for R20. It is delicious and worth the price.
