Last week I was invited to an exclusive one-on-one session with spree’s fashion director, Chris Viljoen. If you know Chris, you will know that he knows his stuff and that a styling session with him is not likely to be a run-of-the-mill kinda time. This I know purely because once upon a time I used to be his intern.
Chris took me through spree’s spring/summer range and the upcoming season’s trends – and I like what they are doing. Spree (in my opinion) is not just an online shop, it’s an experience. They tell a story – each designer’s story. The lookbooks, personalised style advice and support of local design set it apart as an online shop. If you want reasons to buy something, how to wear the piece and advice on how to do it – you’ll find it all there.
Behind the scenes with Spree
And just like that (and with a wave of his arm) Chris summoned me to style five looks from the range. What Chris says, you do and so I got stuck into spree’s exciting spring/summer looks and did just that: I created five looks.

Trend alert:
Chris says:
‘Everything black and white but this time with a dash of colour! Throw a few blossoms and flowers in the mix; season with a bit of spice from the orient and stir in a healthy measure of pattern. This is your recipe for fashion success this summer!’

Love the second look, that dress is red carpet worthy. Stunningly sophisticated and elegant.
I like 2, 4 and 5. Dress 5 shows sophistication, it’s too good for words. Anything with prints goes this season. Chris know his story!
The gorgeous lace pants & the last look print dress with the nude & black pumps & black clutch!
I love look 2 and 4, stunning I love the sleek back hair, and make up suits both looks so well.

Love the third look – very sophisticated!
When putting together looks/an outfit Jenna, do you find that you normally venture towards something you are highly likely to wear (being a woman of good taste yourself) or do you keep the variety of different women in mind? Your looks are trendy, elegant, straight forward & clean, the kind of looks I always advocate. Lovely.
#Interesting to know that you interned for Chris
Hi Ackie, thank you for your comment and question! Yes, when styling I keep who I am styling for first in mind. It’s important to style a variety of looks that would appeal to different women, baring in mind options for plus size and petite. For example, The Albertus Swanepoel white shirt dress has a loose easy fit that works for all sizes, wear it tied in at the waist or leave it loose and voluminous – the key is in the styling.
Thanks!
Fantastic looks, especially look 1, 3 and 5!
A job well done Jenna!!
Also a huge fan of Chris Viljoen, he is such a stylist man
Look #5 is so me! Love it, head to toe. That dress would be so easy to take from day to night.
