Here at Jenna McArthur PR we love a super efficient, super stylish and super-on-it woman and this week we got all that when Shalagh Fredericks joined the team. So without further ado, say hello to Shalagh.
How would you describe yourself?
I’m a passionate dreamer, workaholic and music lover who can easily get lost in a pudding.
And when you’re not working?
I hope to be fluent in six languages one day. Right now I’m learning Spanish with Italian and then French to follow.
What did you do before joining Jenna McArthur PR?
I was beauty assistant at Edgars Club Magazine.
Why the move to fashion PR?
I’ve always been fascinated by fashion as a living art form and as a commodity, and am excited about moving into PR as it will allow me to learn more about fashion as well as provide opportunities to make meaningful connections with creatives, promote their work and share their amazing stories.
What do you bring to the party?
I think the most important thing I bring is caring sincerely about our clients and their work.
One item from the new Henriette Botha SS15 Summer in the City collection you must have and why?
There are so many! But my number one has to be the exquisite ‘Delicious Monster of the Rooftop’ necklace. I can’t resist leaf motifs and love the combination of mint green and gold.
Your must-have flats for the season?
House of Cinnamon’s Rachel flats are top of my lust-list. They’re the perfect pair for day-to-night dressing.
For a fashion event, which PICHULIK piece would you pick?
I’d wear a plain white sleeveless dress with the ‘Double Bracelet’ from the SS15 Baraka collection, cream leather clutch and nude heels.
Who inspires you and why?
It changes but the one constant is Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel. I’m fascinated by her personal journey from convent orphan to fashion genius – and like her, I love hats, ribbons, red lipstick and stripes too.
Three things on your radar?
Haas Coffee Collective in Cape Town (worth a visit, even if just to view the incredible decor!), the limited-edition ‘Cyubahiro Scarf’ from millecollines and Adele’s soon-to-be-released album. I’ve read that she’s planning to introduce a new pop sound and I can’t wait!
What is your ultimate weakness?
Macarons from Myatt in the V&A Waterfront and the growing collection of rings I have at home.
Rome. I’ve just come back from my first visit there and haven’t stopped dreaming of its magnificent fountains, incredible fashion and delectable gelato!
Anything else you want to share?
If you haven’t tried it yet, try Oreos with a generous dollop of peanut butter. It’s life-changing!
