So, day one of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Cape Town kicked off yesterday and here are our highlights:
The much-anticipated Adriaan Kuiters show was held at the Iziko National Gallery yesterday – such a perfect backdrop for this show. It was also a first for the designer, who sent womenswear down the runway. The s/s 2013 collection was a definite highlight with sheer, oversized shirts, exaggerated peaked caps and sandals that I absolutely must have. The show opened with crisp, all white, head-to-toe and then came the shades of beige, digital prints and leather. The thing that I love about this collection is that it is totally wearable. The collection is evidence of a continued dedication to minimalism and proportions. Oh, and the boys with that Kenzo hair – nice touch.
And then there was the s/s 2013 bliss that Jenny Le Roux sent down the runway. I seriously loved everything about this collection. Dramatic black opened the show, followed by a sea of monochrome and then colour, colour and more colour in beautiful linens and flowing silhouettes! Loved the oversized hats, the completely impeccable pleating and beautiful floor-sweeping floral maxi dresses. In fact, the entire collection is dreamy. If you love what you see – you’ll love this: shop the s/s 2013 Habits collection online at Style 36.
