I do love Alexa Chung but then again, who doesn’t? Global fashion trendsetter, model, muse for Marc Jacobs and Karl Lagerfeld, and TV presenter Miss Chung has had a go at her first book. It’s called It and will hit SA shelves next month.
Even if you’re one of the rare women (I’m told they do exist) who doesn’t love her style you will certainly be interested to find out what makes her tick. As contributing editor to Vogue UK, this it girl certainly knows enough about fashion to have me looking forward to reading her thoughts about fashion and her inspiration, not to mention her styling tips (let’s not forget that she has three British Style Awards under her belt). As you have probably guessed, It is certainly no intellectual piece of writing and by no means life-changing but Alexa’s personal collection of doodles, photographs, musings and sense of style make it a lovely and light read.
A shot that I simply love of Alexa Chung. She was photographed in Valentino for the Mytheresa.com portrait and film series and illustrates Alexa as style icon.
Her early style inspiration – all shared in the book – ranges from her grandfather to The Spice Girls and her obsessions include the likes of Jane Birkin and Annie Hall. And yes, she even dishes on how to take the perfect selfie, which always comes in handy. Of course, It is as stylish as she is with handcrafted, marbled end pages covered in on-trend polka-dots.
Can’t wait? Tell us what you love about Alexa’s style by commenting below – and you could be the lucky reader to win your very own copy of It.
This competition is now closed. Congrats to Isabella, Alexa Chung’s IT is on its way to you! We’ll be in touch shortly!
If you don’t win, you’ll be able to find a copy (for R310) at all good book stores in SA from 1 October.
